We have been learning about our five senses in science. We did a "taste test" to discover salty, sweet, sour and bitter foods. Then, we graphed our favorite tastes.
We celebrated filling up our class behavior grid by having a stuffed animal day! The students were so excited to share their friends with us. We even did some fun math with our stuffed animals like graphing, sorting, putting them in order from largest to smallest and counting. Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Glenn are so proud of the Giddy Up Gang and their ready, responsible, and respectful behavior!
We have had a great start to our 2012 school year! The Giddy Up Gang is having so much fun getting to know each other and practicing procedures. Here is a pictures of all of our friends.
It's that time of year!! Teachers are busy getting classrooms set up. I have been in my room since August 1st getting ready for my sweet kindergarten class. I can't wait to meet them. Mrs. Thompson and I are so excited about our first year at Pee Dee. Here are some pictures of what we've done so far. We still have a way to go but it's coming together. We are a brand new class so we started with a clean slate. If you have any cowboy ideas let me know.
Yesterday we got to mix red, yellow and blue icing to make fun colors for the cupcakes we baked to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. I've never seen such colorful cupcakes!
We've also read lots of Dr. Seuss books, tasted green eggs and ham, and dressed up as our favorite Dr. Seuss characters.
We have added a science center to our classroom! Last week our experiment was "Penny Cleaning." We tested four liquids to see which one would make a penny the shiniest - hot sauce, coke, ketchup, or vinegar. The result was the hot sauce! We love science!!
I can't believe it's been 100 days! This year is flying by. We had a great time counting our collections of 100 things, thinking about what we would buy with $100 and making 100th day hats.
Thanks for sharing your babies with me for 100 days so far!
Hope you all had fun playing in the REAL snow!! I know I did!
I've got a lot planned for the remainder of the year getting my friends ready for 1st grade. We are going to have so much fun the next couple of weeks learning about bears, pets and dental health. See you soon!

We had so much fun in the parade today!! Thanks to all of our CCA family for coming out and supporting us! I hope everyone was able to go home and get warm. Merry Christmas!
We are so thankful for the opportunity to work with your children every day! We have very sweet friends in our class and Mrs. Berni and I both have so much fun with them. Thank you for sharing them with us.
I want to say a big thank you to everyone for contributing to our feast today and for coming in to celebrate with us. We are truly blessed!
We wrote letters to soldiers overseas to help make their holidays special. We love and pray for the men and women who keep our country safe. Thank you for everything you do!!
We had a blast celebrating yesterday! I loved all my friends costumes. They were all so creative.
We ate lunch in our room and had ice cream. Then, we played "Zoo Catcher" on the playground. The zoo keeper had to catch all of the animals and put them in the zoo. I doubled as a penguin and the zoo keeper.
Here's a picture of our fun day! Have a great weekend!
I was just looking up some new fun games for my friends to play in computer center and came across this website. All these games are FREE! They would be great websites to let your children review the letters, letter sounds, vowels and rhymes. Some games would just be a review but if your kindergartner has younger siblings let the kindergartners "teach" the younger sibling these games. Your kindergartner is working on higher level thinking skills when he or she is teaching. This builds more connections in the brain and helps cement the skill for long term learning.
We had a great fall party! I want to say a big thank you to Cindy for organizing, Lauren for sending in craft supplies, Celeste, Rachel and Cheryl for helping out, and a special THANK YOU for the wonderful fall basket!!
This is Mrs. Glenn's first year teaching public school and Mrs. Thompson's first year as an assistant. We are super excited to be a part of Pee Dee Elementary. It's going to be a great year!
